Hi Gill, Thanks for your comment. It is so nice to hear from someone with similar interests, especially from such a long way away. I would love to know how you deal with horse/ environmental issues in England... waste disposal, chemicals used around horses, worming, and pesticides. We have been spreading our composted manure on the native pasture to improve it after years of over grazing.
Hope you liked our Merriewold site as well...Thanks and please comment again, Diana

I am a Morgan sport horse owner in Shropshire, England and recently received the Nov./Dec. copy of TMH magazine. As we are currently having the coldest snowest winter for 30 years I am amusing my self looking at web sites listed in the magazine. As my husband is a retired architect I am always interested in others new projects especially if they include horses. Yours looks really exciting and I look forward to seeing updates in the future. Now I will have a look at your Merriewold Morgans. Good luck with the project sincerely Gill

Hi Diana!

This is so interesting!! I am sure that there are many ways that you can reduce your carbon footprint on your horse property. Although I haven't read it yet (opps), the Worldwatch Institute (an environmental think-tank in DC) released a paper on mitigating climate change through land use! Here is the link: http://www.worldwatch.org/node/6126

I know the publication discusses how to manage soil to soak up the maximum amount of carbon, but I am sure other issues will be relevant to your Green Property too! I will bring you a copy when I come to look at Honey in September.

See you soon!

Thanks for your humorous comment! I have actually heard of studies on the amount of gas coming from cows...and it is quite substatial. I will ask around and let you know...but it is always a good idea to plant trees! ;>)
Thanks,
D
