Hi Diana
I was recommended to have a look at your website by Clay of Sustainable Stables. I have just been awarded a winston Churchill Fellowship to study environmentally sustainable horse properties in the USA. I would love to visit your property when in California in April. Would you mind sending me an email at the above address so I can give you more details
thanks

Hi Diana,

I've been following this site for a few months and have been meaning to get in touch. My partner and I have started an organization dedicated to sustainable horsekeeping (see www.sustainablestables.com), and we would love to talk to you more about Merriewold Morgans and your new property development.

One of our current projects is consulting on the development of a 240-acre horse farm in North Carolina that's going green, and is a pilot project for the Sustainable Sites Initiative (see "Highfields Farm" under our Example Farms page). We'd love to get some ideas from your experiences as we move forward with this project. Also, we'd like to post Merriewold Morgans as an example farm on our website if you're interested.

Anyway, just wanted to make the connection, let's be in touch. Happy trails,

Those fields are beautiful Diana. I imagine a bus-load of artists standing where you are with canvas mounted on easels covered with pinks, purples, blues, yellows and greens! ;-)

Hi Robin: The rice hull product works extremely well in the runs during dry weather. It saves on cleaning time and keeps the footing dryer. It also reduces the smell of ammonia that you normally have in sand or dirt runs. The product we are using is Perma Stall Plus and they do have a website. The drawback in wet weather is that it floats away. The horses may nibble on it when you first add it, but have not had any digestive upsets. Please do not hesitate to ask any other questions....Jackie.
